Drako Maquette by Javadoodle Drako Maquette by Javadoodle
My third and final maquette for Character Maquette Sculpture this semester, of a favorite old character of mine. Photo taken kindly by my professor, Larry Larson. :) I'll post more detail shots soon.

Sculpey, on a wire armature and wooden base.

Guhh! I didn't think it meant that was the name of the class! It's just beyond me! We'd never have such a class at my school... we were just too traditional u__u I'd kill for a class like this.

No problem. :) It was definitely a fun class - taught by the same fellow who fronts our stop motion/puppet/ball-and-socket armature classes. What school do you attend?

It wasn't an art school, but a regular university. Their art department was only good in a few specialties. I went to California State University Long Beach. The sculpture and painting department is the best, but we wouldn't be doing characters n stuff...

I chose illustration as my primary, and I totally regreted it. Just Terrible. I wish I took sculpture or something more.

Ah! Indeed, now I understand. I went to a regular university for about a semester and a half my freshman year for art, and decided to enroll into an art school for stuff like this (And really, more of a challenge - UT's entire art department was pretty poor. To the point hat the professors were telling me to find a place that'd be more of a challenge. lol!)

CCS has a department dedicated to entertainment media production (Everything from maquette sculpture animation, to live action film to game design) The workload is absolutely insane, but the payoff has been worth it (been getting freelance gigs since my sophomore year out of it) I definitely understand though - choosing college and departments is a tricky business. I'm sorry you regret your major, though I will say, your illustrations are lovely, I quite like your work. I'll be watching your gallery!

Meh, I don't regret--I just wish for a couple of other things instead: Less people on this planet so I could get a job, and free education so I can continue my learning @o@ Maybe also a prolonged life of eternal youth, but hahaha aaaanywayyyyy...

I didn't go to an artschool because honestly, I'm really lazy and I "hate the man" when it comes to art. So I got a degree for the sake of getting a degree, but you are going to really make something of yourself :)

I just want to be a tattoo artist D; How come it takes me too long to realize?

Amazing work! I love the character's expression and the different textures displayed.
The head in particular is a joy to look at. The detail of the pipe adds a comic little twist... :+fav:

Did I ever tell you I am in love with this sculpture? Well I am! I use to be big into the werewolf side of White Wolf's Live Action fun. It boggles my mind that no one in the movie business seems to see werewolves as you and I visualize them. He is beautiful.

OMG the detail. :faint: It turned out absolutely beautiful, and the photo itself really adds a nice feeling to it with the lighting and all! The feather nearly made me pass out, look how fragile it is!! :omfg: Auuuuuuugh. You have some patience, my dear! Drako looks fantastic, it's so cool to see him in 3-D. Great job!

My god your amazing! I love your 'Werewolves.' They are not to human and not to animal. And this one seems to have a Native American feel to him that totally kicks ass. Amazing.

P.S. did you ever get my note?

LOL, I should do Splinter though, he's awesome XD He was always my favorite as a kid instead of any of the Turtles, oddly enough. I think it's just because he was fuzzy. ;)
